With a strong background in trauma therapy and published research from the University of Central Florida, she helps couples rebuild trust, clarify their future, and strengthen connection. In pursuing her doctorate, she saw gaps in the research literature surrounding trauma-informed care and sought to fill them. She published articles on trauma and completed her dissertation outlining an experimental study providing trauma-informed therapy to children in poverty. In addition, she supervised master's students in applying this trauma-informed therapy.

Elena is our compassionate Care Coordinator at It Begins Within with experience in behavioral health, crisis intervention, and client advocacy. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and is passionate about helping individuals access the resources they need to thrive.
Prior to joining our team, Elena worked at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay supporting youth aged 16-25 by connecting them to mental health services, housing, and employment resources. Her collaborative approach and crisis response experience help create strong support networks that promote long-term well-being and stability.
